My precious Sam is going to be with the Lord very soon. I've been advised it is now time to stay home with him (I had been working half days). Although he can no longer talk, he can still hear us, and will hold my hand and sometimes squeeze my fingers. He likes to reminisce with loved ones. I saved all of my love letters from him, and he saved all of his from me. I've put them in chronological order and merged them so they can tell there own story.

I also have written journals about vacations we've taken over the years. Sometimes he wants me to read those, sometimes the letters. Sometimes I just talk with him - about our lives, about Cody, about experiences, about the next life. Among the many memories we've shared are our experiences with our Shania Ohana - whether in Timmins, Toronto, Huntsville or involving concerts - in Las Vegas and L.A. - including our stay with Debbie and Jack.

To all those who touched our lives, thank you, thank you, thank you. Remembering those experiences with him has relaxed and comforted him. Thank you.

I'm sorry you are going through a difficult time right now Sheri. I have many precious memories of Sam as do others who have met him.

I'm praying for you and Cody.

Sheri,

Memories are what get us through our difficult times, and it is wonderful that you have so many to share. You, Cody and Sam are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the update Sheri.

I had been wondering how things are going with Sam. Sounds pretty sad. He was little firm with me when I first met him - he wouldn't let me pay the bill, or even share it, for our group. I think that was the restaurant in the Senator Hotel, downtown Timmins, possibly 2003 or 2005. But I quickly learned there was so much to admire and appreciate about his character and friendship. A memorable acquaintance, for sure.

Glad to see you've found some things of such great personal value, to share and hold onto, even after he's physically gone. As an author of family history, I can appreciate the enduring benefits.

My very best wishes for you and your family, in these emotionally difficult times.

If I ever get to Hawaii, I may give you a call. That place has been on my bucket list for years, along with Vancouver and Darjeeling. If things continue as they are now, I should have the funds to do some of those adventures in another year or two. Much longer than that, and my physical ability might not be adequate for Darjeeling in the Himalayas.

Bob
