I picked up an album of some of these songs last year at Wal-Mart. I found the songs to be interesting; sort of a look at Shania's talent at it's earlier stages. The recording is not the greatest, but what struck me is Shania's strong singing voice, and her songwriting. Sure they are not classic Shania, but they are worth a listen. My favorite has to be "L.U.V. Eyes", which I could imagine her recording even today. And her cover of "Half Breed" was very good as well.

I forgot to mention, in case anyone didn't know, that these songs were recorded in Deerhurst, in the late 80's and early 90's. They were when Shania was trying to be a pop singer, before she recorded her her debut album in Nashville.

Well, I have the Wild & Wicked album, which has all of the same songs on that appear on the Limelight Sessions. My favourite tracks would have to be "Send It With Love" and "For The Love of Him" (dance mix). These clearly demonstrate her versatality as a singer and more importantly her need to be taken seriously as a song-writer since the ideas she had took with her to Nashville got rejected. She co-wrote many of the songs with Paul Sabu.

I have both the Limelight and Beginnings. I feel a little guilty knowing she is not happy about these CDs getting out, but I like them both a lot. I think it is because we get to hear a side of Shania we never would have otherwise. It is true her voice almost seems more powerful at times back then. She also seems to use more vibrato in these old songs than she uses now. True, her current music is what drew me to her, but I must admit she had it going for her back then as well. If there hadn't been a Pat Benatar wannabe on every street corner in those days, then who knows where songs like Rhythum Made Me Do It and Wild & Wicked might have gone. My favorites from these CDs are The Heart Is Blind; Send It With Love; Two Hearts One Love; Luv Eyes; Lost My Heart; and she does a really nice version of Cher's Half Breed.

Yeah, I had thought that Cher had the definitive version of Half Breed with that distinctive voice of hers. I would never have thought that Shania had the pipes to sing it the way it should be sung. But I was wrong. It must have been a big stretch for Shania but she did it! :)

Agreed, but I would add Bite My Lip too.

Yeah, BML is good. I wish she would throw one of these songs into her concerts now and then. I think the fans would get a kcik out of it.

i've only listened to it about 5 or 10 times. it's my least favorite shania cd.
the songs on it i just can't really get into. the song "it's alright" isn't bad.

for the most part the only thing i really like about the cd is shania's voice
